FIFA Chief of Global Football Development

Arsene Wenger is FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development. Prior to this role, he was the manager of Arsenal from 1996 to 2018, where he was the longest-serving and most successful in the club's history. He holds the record for the most Premier League matches managed after a 22-year spell with Arsenal between 1996 and 2018.

The Frenchman learned his managerial trade in France with spells at Strasbourg, Cannes and Nancy before earning a move to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. He won the French League Championship in 1988 before moving to Japan seven years later for an 18-month stint. After joining Arsenal, Wenger did not take long to adapt to life in English football and guided the team to their first Premier League title in the 1997/98 season.

He repeated the feat again in 2001/02 before making history in 2003/04, as "The Invincibles" went unbeaten throughout the entire league campaign on their way to sealing a third Premier League crown.

The Frenchman has also claimed seven FA Cups - the most of any manager - and was voted Manager of the Year in 1998, 2002 and 2004.

Wenger became the Premier League’s longest serving manager when Sir Alex Ferguson retired at the end of the 2012/13 season and surpassed his record of matches managed in the Premier League during the 2017/18 campaign.

Owen is a New Zealander with a unique approach based on an evolutionary understanding of what makes teams of humans strong and weak.

Dawn is Director of Performance at Inter Miami CF MLS club, she is also a Technical Advisor for FIFA, specifically working on projects related to Female Health. She has over 20 years experience working with elite female football players, having supported the US WNT (10 years) and England women's football team (12 years). She has supported National teams at 4 FIFA World Cup Finals (US were runners up in 2011, and won the 2015 and 2019 tournaments), 3 Olympic Games (US won gold in 2012), and 2 UEFA European Championships (England were runners up in 2009). She is currently in the final stages of completing her PhD at Western Sydney University (Ric Lovell as her supervisor) developing a training and monitoring model for elite female football players, as well as finishing a Masters in Sports Directorship at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Dr. Fabian Otte completed his PhD at the German Sport University Cologne, investigating skill acquisition, expertise and talent development in sport. Fabian is an applied scientist and coach who has presented at numerous global sports science congresses and coaching education courses over the past years. He researched learning and development in high-performance football (soccer), studying elite to sub-elite/developmental athletes.

Along with his academic research, Fabian has been working as a professional football goalkeeping (GK) coach for over 5 years in various countries on 3 continents (e.g., for Burnley FC in the English Premier League, New Zealand Football and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in Germany). Currently, Fabian is working as the First Team GK coach for Borussia Moenchengladbach in the German Bundesliga.

Ben is an experienced UEFA Pro Licence & MSc qualified coach and developer, currently leading the integration of coach & player development at Premier League Fulham Football Club.

Prior to this he spent 12 years at The English Football Association supporting the development of coaches within National Teams & Professional Football Clubs.

Ben also has previous experience leading youth development programmes in both The Premier & Football League in England enabling the development of Champions League & International football players.

He also led significant aspects within the restructure of The Football Association coach education pathway over recent years.

Football Association of Wales Coach Educator

Damian Roden currently works as Director of Performance for Anderlecht, in Belgium. Roden previously worked in similar roles at Premier League teams, Bolton, Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers, QPR and Stoke City. He has also worked for the Premier League, Welsh FA, the Australian national team, and US club Seattle Sounders.

Having played semi-professionally as a midfielder, Damian hung up his boots to concentrate on the coaching side of the game, completing a UEFA ‘Pro’ licence, as well as a Masters degree (MSc) in Sports Science. He is a highly respected thinker in terms of preparation and performance in football.

Fiji Football Association Technical Director

Timo Jankowski is a 37 year old father of three young girls, and has a University Diploma in Business Management. He is the Technical Director of the Fiji FA, working on a long-term project around his passion of football and player development in Fiji. The UEFA A (German FA) and UEFA A+ (Swiss FA) License Holder has previously worked for the German FA and with Swiss Champion Grasshoppers Club Zuerich. At Grasshoppers Club, he worked as an Assistant with the 1st Team and also as Head of Youth Development and Performance Director. Timo has also worked as an Assistant with the Swiss U16 National team and as a Coach Educator.

After a playing career which took in spells with the likes of Shrewsbury Town, Carlisle United and Yeovil Town as well as four years in the USA, Paul Nevin began his coaching journey with Fulham’s Academy.

Nevin spent eight years working with a variety of the junior and reserve teams at Craven Cottage, before heading to manage the New Zealand Knights in the Australian A-League for a season and then on to Qatar, where Nevin held a role at the Aspire Academy working with the Middle East nation’s young players and coaches.

Returning to England in 2013, he took a coaching role at Norwich City, where he first worked alongside manager and former West Ham and Republic of Ireland defender Chris Hughton, before joining the Premier League as head of coaching.

After two years in that role, Nevin was reunited with Hughton at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he took the role of first-team coach. Under their guidance, the Seagulls won promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 2016/17, before establishing themselves in the top flight.

Following an initial season in 2018 with the England national team, September 2021 saw him re-join Gareth Southgate’s coaching staff for a second spell. Having helped them to 2022 FIFA World Cup finals qualification, Nevin looks forward to a busy 2022/23 season both leading West Ham forward and also challenging for World Cup success with England in Qatar.

Chris Adams has been involved in coach development for 10 years both in Australia and his native England. Throughout his career he has held roles in football with a strong focus on Grassroots Football and Coach Development. He has worked across Australia firstly as a Development Officer with Football West servicing football across Western Australia and then in New South Wales working as Coach Development Manager for the Manly Warringah Football Association and then at State Federation level as Coach Development Manager for Football New South Wales. Chris is now Community Football Manager for the Northern Suburbs Football Association in Sydney and Head Of Youth Football for Northern Tigers FC. During this time he has been heavily involved in Coach Development as an instructor for volunteer Grassroots coaches through to B Licence coaches. Chris has a passion for supporting grassroots clubs and coaches to provide a positive experience for all of their players and ensure that Football really is for all.

Paul has been coaching for the past 18yrs, he holds a UEFA A ‘License and graduate diploma in Sport & Exercise. He has worked across a broad range of environments starting in local clubs and schools, then working his way up to coach at regional and national levels. In his current role as Academy Technical Director at the Wellington Phoenix FC he has been working within the professional game helping to develop talent for the A-League.

Paul moved to New Zealand in 2001, from England. He considers himself an adopted kiwi and is passionate about helping grow and develop football in Aotearoa. He has coached New Zealand teams at five FIFA World Cup tournaments across male and female age group teams and is currently the Assistant Coach for the U20 Men’s Team. His biggest motivation is to see young players achieve their dreams by becoming professional and international players.

Gemma is a current OFC A Licence holder and the current head coach of the New Zealand U20’s Women’s national team. Gemma has coached at 3 age group World Cups, one of these being when the U17’s Women’s national team achieved bronze in 2018. As well as this, Gemma was also an assistant coach with the Football Ferns 2019 World Cup campaign.

Last year Gemma was the first head coach of the new Wellington Phoenix A-league Women’s side, being the first professional women’s team in New Zealand.

Sean has coached at national and international level, following a professional playing career which included representing New Zealand. With a keen interest in helping coaches to learn, Sean has been involved in coach development for over 18 years. Sean holds a AFC/FFA Pro Diploma, Masters in Coaching, and is currently training as a Master Coach Developer through the International Council for Coaching Excellence Coach Developer Academy.

Michael is a former professional player who works as a goalkeeper coach for 1899 Hoffenheim and is goalkeeper coach for the Turkish National team. He has lectured worldwide on various goalkeeping topics. In 2011 he started a project to develop goalkeeper specific software to help goalkeeper coaches. The software is used by coaches of youth and amateurs as well as numerous national and professional teams.

A native New Zealander, Olli grew up in the rural north and as a teenager moved to Auckland to attend Unitec School of Sport, while pursuing his football career. After graduating with a Bachelor of Sport in Coaching Olli left New Zealand to pursue his professional coaching career abroad. During this time Olli has coached in England, the United States, China and Norway, coaching through grass roots and development into senior professional and national team levels. Most recently Olli managed West Ham United Women in the WSL and has now taken a post as the Director of Football at Norwegian giants SK Brann.

UEFA A License holder; Olli also holds numerous coaching and management licenses ranging from development, club management, director of football, and elite coaching from several associations across the globe. Olli will complete his UEFA Pro License with the Norwegian Football Federation in Sept this year.
